I believe one of my biggest strengths as an educator is my willingness to use technology in my classroom. I try to always be open to trying new things in my class as well as exposing my students to various technologies that they may not have seen before. I believe it is very important for students to understand and learn how to use computers, digital cameras, etc. I make sure my class gets to the computer lab at least once a week to practice using these different things. Another strength I am thankful for is my ability to understand things quickly once I am shown. This helps in being confident about the technology used in my classroom such as the document camera, CPS clickers and Chalkboard. I plan to use my strengths to encourage my students to be interested and curious about technology as well as give them hands on experiences with it so they are prepared for the older grades where they will use it more and more. I also plan on integrating my lessons with the various types of technology offered in my school so the students are able to experience a more rounded curriculum.
An honest weakness I see in myself as an educator and also as a student in this course is my understanding of building web pages and networks. For whatever reason I have always had a difficult time understanding these things and really have only been able to accomplish the basics regarding both. I hope to explore and learn more over the course of this and the rest of my courses until I feel comfortable both creating a web page and managing a network.
